Føroyska rossið - færøhesten - faroese horse

Breeding

They began breeding them and things progressed. Several foals were born and the Socity for Faroese Horses (Felagið Föroysk Ross) was established.
In spite of hardships the breed is continuously growing, although the total number of ponies is still merely 60. The small number is caused by poor working-circumstances and the fact that the work  has been carried out purely by (private people), without much support from the government. It has been our ambition to get a breeding-station, so that the breeding can be properly supervised and controlled. However, this wish has not been granted. Our hope is that these circumstances will change in the nearest future, as the pony has so many traits that worth saving and preserving.
