The play follows Salieri’s confession as an old man looking back on his fight with God and destruction of Mozart
A detailed synopsis will be added over time...
David Suchet won The Variety Club Award and received nominations for a Laurence Olivier Award and a Tony Award for his performance as Salieri
Peter Hall also directed the original production of Amadeus in 1979 at London's National Theatre
Apart from David Suchet, Michael Sheen and Jack Broder the rest of the cast on Broadway differed from that of the Royal Bath/The Old Vic
Peter Schaffer adapted his own play into a film version (Amadeus, 1984) with Tom Hulce as Mozart and F. Murray Abraham as Salieri. The film won eight Oscars, including Best Picture, Best Director, Best Adapted Screenplay and Best Actor (F. Murray Abraham)
