Have already been in Malaysia for nearly 3 months and it was therefore time for me to leave for a short while and head to Singapore to visit my friends Anu and Tim.
Unfortunately the trip coincided with the worst haze that Singapore has ever seen and I therefore didn't really see much of Singapore!! So not excatly a great trip weatherwise and we did suffer from the haze but you can read all about that in the blog! Here are a few photos from the trip (not many because there wasn't really anything worth taking photos of haha)
Waiting for the bus, so ready for a long weekend away!!
The bus
Still happily unaware of the chaos I was about to enter....
The first morning the haze wasn't bad at all...
You could even slightly see the sky through the thin layer of haze
Anu on Orchard road - it was really only a 3 minute walk outside for the sole purpose of taking a few photos
Sentosa in the background - the haze still wasn't too bad but it was rather uncomfortable for your throat, lungs and eyes
By the afternoon things took a turn to the worse... This is the view from my friend Tim's apartment which is meant to have this beautiful view overlooking Singapore
His beautiful pool was absolutely deserted, such a shame the weather didn't allow a quick swim because I am by now longing for a little relaxing time by the water (ocean or pool doesn't matter)
People started wearing masks and soon after the government had encouraged everyone to stay indoor or leave the country everyone wanted masks and all the shops ran out.....
Again a turn for the worse
.....
The index breached the air pollution scale and as people were urged to leave I decided it was time to go home early!! This is the midday sun as I left Singapore - A sad view
Having crossed the boarder things didn't look great either, the haze has slowly moved into Malaysia and the southern most part of Peninsula Malaysia is now severely affected as well with schools being closed due to the situation... But Kuala Lumpur is still free and it was a great [...]relieve to reach KL and being able to breath fresh air again!! Can only categorize this trip as being one I will always remember :) Read more...↑
