I might not have been at Pom Pom to see the baby turtles hatching a few days ago but it is with great pleasure that I can now show you the ultimate fruit of work from my days on the island!!!
On the 1st of May 2013 Fletcher, Tim and I found a nesting turtle in the middle of the night during a turtle patrol. It was the most amazing experience sitting on that beautifully moonlit, silent beach seeing the turtle nest! It was definitely a night I will always remember - It was it the first time any of us saw a turtle and while there during most of the other nestings were lots of people around, we got to have this one all to ourselves!! The photos below show the outcome of that night and show what cute little creatures TRACC and many other organisations around the world are trying to save :)
