Boleslav II, Duke of Bohemia (967-999)
Conquered Movaria, parts of Silesia and Galicia.
Turned Prague into a diocese in 973.
Died February 2nd 999 and buried in St. George, Prague.
Boleslav II continued his father’s policies of instating Christianity in Bohemia.
In 973 he established the diocese of Prague under the archbishop of Mainz, and in 993 he founded the first monastery in Bohemia.
He supported his German feudal lords against Poland, but also warred against them twice. Boleslav strengthened his position by removing rivals of his own dynasty.
