Siunnersortit actively participates in the development of sustainable Fisheries as well as the various sources of specialty foods utilized by the Greenland population through countless generations.
Despite the fact that there is a general consensus in the fishing industry in Greenland to produce as little as possible on the raw material before exporting, it is not something Siunnersortit share. Rather, we believe that much of the Greenlandic raw material are of such high quality that a degree of production in Greenland actually is not only profitable but also a shame that consumers should be deprived the possibility of a high quality single frozen product.
With the growing focus on carbon emission the "food mileage" has also become an issue on the consumer awareness. This could mean that the producers primary focus on production costs, by shipping the raw materials as an example to China for finalizing and packaging, will eventually damage the company image, especially if claiming to be based on a sustainable production. Hence, the trend will be increased local processing. Thus achieving a minimal transportation of the processed food before reaching the end-user. The increased numbers of conscious consumers, although still representing a smaller group of consumers is an interesting segment who annually consumes larger quantities of processed seafood. More importantly Those are trendsetters, which the majority of the other consumers will eventually emulate. Just as it went with the Marine Stewardship Council products. This is a possibility for Greenland Seafood producers to make a profitable production locally in Greenland.
Siunnersortit would very much like to cooperate with Greenlandic and foreign parties on developing the fisheries, production and sales. Siunnersortit would not only act as a facilitator but also as a partner.
