Onsevig Climate Park is located 10 min. walk from the campsite
Onsevig Climate Park has focused on climate adaptation. It's about coastal protection, development of sustainable technologies and cleaner marine environment. It's about harnessing the energy from wind, waves and alger.Onsevig Climate Park opened in April 2009. On opening was held a major international conference on algae.
Besides four algae ponds behind the new dike in Port Onsevig include climate windmill park fields Thrifty Unit and Vindeby (the world's first offshore wind farm) and a testing ground for wave energy.
Algae as Biomass
Cultivation of algae can reduce CO2 emissions to the atmosphere and release of nutrients to the marine environment. In addition, algae cultivation could significantly contribute to the production of biomass and constitute a valid alternative to using food for biofuel production.
Algae cultivation must primarily be conducted in Onsevig Climate Park, but might later expanded to include treatment plants in Søllested and Nakskov Industry and Environment Park and slurry plants from local farmers
