Angelo Cellura takes his second win in a row

The third race of the Formula 2000 - 2016 Spring Series took place at Okayama International Circuit - Full Course. Once again it was Angelo Cellura on pole. The race got on to a clean start, but already on the first lap Johan van den Beld made a pass for the lead. However on the next lap Angelo Cellura took the lead back again while Nicklas Rasmussen passed Johan van den Beld who was now in 3rd. The battle continued as minor contact occurred on lap four between Nicklas Rasmussen and Johan van den Beld. The incident forced Nicklas to pit for repairs while Johan lost a lot of time to Angelo Cellura. Meanwhile Henrik Kämärä's bad luck continued as the hot weather was too much for his Formula 2000. His engine gave up on lap 11 and Henrik has yet to finish a race this season. During the race there were a lot of great battles. The battle for third was between Vincent Brehm, Nicolai Bjerre and Marcel Seidel. In the end it was Vincent Brehm who ended up 3rd and took his first podium in the league. Angelo Cellura fastest in very hot practice

Angelo Cellura was the fastest driver in today's free practice. He registered a lap time of 1:46.859. The talk among the teams and drivers was the very hot weather and track conditions. Everybody struggled with a very slippery track that was heated up to 51 degrees celsius. The hot air temperature also raised concerns over the Skip Barber Formula 2000's ability to keep its engine cool, especially when in a slipstream. The rather extreme track conditions may come into play in tomorrow's race if they stay the same as in this practice session.
